Self-confidence during your branding photo shoot

Let's be honest self-esteem and confidence are things we all battle with in our daily lives, I certainly do. This can hit you tenfold before and during your photo shoot. I'm afraid there's no magical cure for it, but there are a few things you can do to not get overwhelmed by self-doubt and overthinking. So in this post, I talk about what you can do to battle those nerves and negative thoughts.

LEADING UP TO YOUR SHOOT

When you notice the nerves creeping in, make an active decision to stop yourself from going down that rabbit hole and challenge unkind thoughts about yourself. Instead, say something positive to yourself. Maybe you like your smile or the colour of your eyes, you don't need to limit yourself to appearance either.  It’s also great to do something nice for yourself, a day trip to the sea, have your nails done, go to that exhibition you wanted to see or have a nice relaxing spa night at home and read a book cuddled up with a blanket on the sofa. Whatever makes you feel good.

Another important thing is to stop comparing yourself to others. Everyone is different and believe me even the people that seem to have it all and are on top of their field/industry have doubts and things they’re not happy with. It's probably one of the top 3 points I hate about social media. It has the ability to amplify our imposter syndrome and eat away at our self-esteem.

YOU DO YOU.

There's only one you and that's your superpower. By now we're also all too aware that we shouldn't believe everything we see online.

DURING YOUR SHOOT

I'm usually quite good at spotting when clients have a little wobble during our session and will do my best to get you through and out of it. Don't worry, it's only human to feel nervous or overwhelmed sometimes. You won't be the first or last person to get nervous again all of a sudden. Just take a few deep breaths and feel free to let me know what you need. There's no judgement I promise. If you need a break or a change of scenery then that's what we'll do. Having a longer shoot doesn’t mean you need to be “on” all the time or constantly shooting. That time also allows us to sit down, take a break and have a tea and a little chat.

Generally speaking, just be kind to yourself. Practise some self-love and in terms of your branding photo shoot if there's anything in particular that makes you anxious let me know and we can talk through it and I can try and avoid things on the day if possible.

Do you have any tips or advice you’d like to share on how to battle nerves and negative thoughts? I’d love to hear them!
