Personal Branding Photography for a Meditation Teacher in London: Ziba in Stillness

Personal branding photo of meditation teacher in London, warm and approachable style

There’s a particular kind of brave that comes with building a wellbeing business while you’re still in training and juggling a full-time job. You’re doing the work, learning the craft, and quietly building something meaningful in the background - while your calendar looks like it was designed by chaos.

That was exactly where Ghazal Ghaffary was when she reached out to me.

At the time, she was training to become a meditation teacher and mindfulness coach, and preparing to launch her business Ziba in Stillness. She needed personal branding images for her website and socials - the kind that feel warm, authentic and human, not generic wellness stock photos.

You can find her work here.

The goal: accessible wellbeing, not “perfect” wellbeing

From the start, Ghazal was really clear about what she wanted to create:

  • meditation classes and workshops that feel realistic and accessible

  • work that supports both communities and corporates

  • branding photos that show a person, not a polished persona

And that clarity makes my job (and your photos) so much stronger, because good personal branding photography isn’t about forcing you into a trend. It’s about translating who you are into visuals your audience instantly understands.

Why this mattered: her story was the brand

When we talked about her business, what stood out was the heart behind it.

Ghazal’s interest in meditation began years earlier during a difficult season at university and it grew into something that genuinely changed her life and mental health. Later, she felt pulled to share that with others, especially people who might not have easy access to in-person classes (because London can be… London).

Alongside training, she was also working full-time at CoppaFeel!, so this business was being built with care and intention, in the margins of real life.

That’s not just “nice context”. That’s personal branding. Because people don’t only connect with what you do - they connect with why you do it.

Planning the shoot: calm visuals with a clear brief

Ghazal wanted imagery that felt grounded, approachable and warm. She also had ideas around including indoor and outdoor variety as well as bringing simple props (like a meditation cushion) to make the photos feel true to her work.

My job at this stage was to help her turn a lovely-but-broad idea (“calm, authentic, not cliché”) into something practical:

  • choosing a location that matched the feel of her brand

  • keeping things simple enough that it still felt relaxed

  • making sure the images would work across her website and social media

Because calm photos don’t happen by accident - they happen when the planning removes the stress.

When the shoot came around, it felt exactly how you’d want a wellbeing branding shoot to feel: calm, relaxed, and human. We didn’t do the whole “stand here, do this, hold a fake laugh for 20 seconds” thing. Instead, we chatted, we moved through ideas we’d already discussed, and I guided Ghazal through the shoot in a really fluid way, making suggestions as we went, always anchored in what she’d told me she wanted her brand to communicate.

That’s pretty much how my shoots work. There’s intent (because you’re here for a reason and we’re creating images with a job to do), but there’s also space. I get a feel for you, we talk and we collaborate in real time. I’ll bring direction and structure where you need it and then we let it unfold in a way that feels natural - so you look like yourself, not like you’re playing “business owner” in a school play.

Working around real life (because most of us aren’t free on a random Tuesday at 11am)

Another very relatable part of this shoot: availability.

Ghazal was building a business alongside a full-time role, so we worked around a schedule that made sense - the kind of diary logistics many of my clients deal with (weekends, the odd day off, and a lot of “can we make this work without me needing a lie down?”).

It’s one of the reasons I keep my process structured and supportive: it helps clients feel held, especially when life is already full.

What personal branding photos do for meditation teachers and wellbeing practitioners

If you’re a meditation teacher, mindfulness coach, sound bath practitioner, breathwork facilitator (or any kind of wellbeing professional), your audience is asking one question before anything else:

“Do I feel safe with you?”

And your photos can answer that instantly before someone reads a single word on your website.

The right set of images can communicate:

  • warmth and approachability

  • quiet confidence (without being performative)

  • professionalism that works for corporate clients

  • a grounded vibe that still feels like you

That’s why I love working with wellbeing clients: it’s not about “posing”. It’s about presence.

A note if you’re still in training but thinking about branding photos

Ghazal reached out before her business was fully launched and that’s something I want more people to know is completely valid.

You don’t need to wait until everything is perfect. In fact, having your images ready can make launching feel so much easier because you can:

  • build your website confidently

  • show up consistently on socials

  • introduce yourself without hiding behind old photos

  • market your services in a way that feels aligned

Branding photos aren’t a finishing touch. They’re part of the foundation.

If you’re building a wellbeing brand and want photos that feel like you

If you’re creating something in the wellbeing space - meditation, mindfulness, breathwork, sound baths, retreats - and you want branding photos that feel human, grounded, and not like “wellness but beige”, I’d love to help.

I support you through the whole process, including:

  • clarifying the vibe and what you actually need the images for

  • finding a location that fits your brand (and your nervous system)

  • planning props and outfits in a simple, doable way

  • gentle direction so you don’t feel awkward or overly “on show”

FAQs

Do I need to be fully qualified before doing a branding shoot?
Not at all. Many clients book while they’re training or pre-launch, so they have images ready for their website and socials. It’s also a great way to take people on a journey, rather than wait to start when everything’s “perfect”.

I don’t want cliché wellness branding photos - can you help?
Yes. The goal is to create something that feels authentic to you and your audience, not a copy/paste trend or generic stock photos.

Can I bring props like a meditation cushion or journal?
Absolutely. Small, relevant props help your photos feel more personal and connected to your work.

Can the shoot work around my 9–5?
Yes, lots of my clients run their business alongside work, so we plan around weekends, days off and realistic availability.
